Sierra Nevada Water Polo
SNWP is a nonprofit organization committed to growing the sport of water polo for youth in the local region. Water polo is a unique team sport that combines the dual skills of swimming and ball handling, with play elements of hockey, basketball, and soccer. Water polo players can typically swim over 1.5 miles in a game! Physiologists have ranked the sport as one of the most strenuous activities of all. In 1991, water polo was quoted as the “Best overall sport in terms of physiological demands placed on the athlete,” by a panel of physiology experts from all over the U.S.(Ludovise).

Our Partnerships
We have branched out from utilizing the reduced pool availability with the City of Reno to private pools, such as Hidden Valley Country Club, to better offer summer-time programs at a more convenient time of day for youths. SNWP supports the City of Reno endeavor to build a new pool at the Moana site, which we hope will allow for future water polo use.
